Riding the fast an undulating Red Bull Ring to the absolute limit, GASGAS rider Jake Dixon scored an emphatic third consecutive podium in Moto2™ with teammate Albert Arenas in 9th, while Sergio Garcia and Izan Guevara hauled more points to continue the heavy GASGAS presence in Moto3™.
  • Sergio Garcia & Izan Guevara finishing 5th and 7th respectively to maintain their top spots across the Riders’, Teams’ and Constructors’ standings.
  • GASGAS celebrate an awesome third consecutive Moto2 podium with Jake Dixon in 3rd while teammate Albert Arenas rides hard to bring his machine home in 9th.
  • GASGAS have had at least one rider featuring on a Moto2 or Moto3 podium at every one of the 13 Grand Prix of the season so far.
Nestled in the picture-perfect Styrian mountains, the incredible 4.3km, 11-turn Red Bull Ring provided an ideal venue for GASGAS to score more points and grab an emphatic Moto2 podium at the 2022 CryptoDATA Motorrad Grand Prix von Österreich.

In Moto3, Sergio Garcia and Izan Guevara are still very much the racers-to-beat, leading the Riders’, Constructors’ and Teams’ championship standings; with a mere three points separating the duo in the fight for the 2022 crown.

Starting 11th on the grid, Garcia exploited his natural speed across a strategic 23 lap race to finish 5th. Garcia made an aggressive start at the lights to leap up to 4th by lap six and enjoyed a white-hot battle with his team mate at mid race distance. In fact, Guevara mirrored Garcia’s early performance despite starting back in 8th place. The 18-year-old rocketed into the lead on lap six, but rear grip issues meant Guevara slipped back to 7th by the final flag.

In Moto2, star billing went to Jake Dixon who was on the pace from the second the start lights went out. The British rider made a lightning launch off the line, even skirting the grass along the high speed straight after turn one on lap one. Dixon maintained intense pressure on rival Pedro Acosta and planned a last-gasp assault. The ruse worked perfectly and Dixon met the checkered flag less than one-hundredth of a second ahead of his rival. Meanwhile Albert Arenas worked hard through a difficult 25 lap run to maintain his P9 grid slot from lights to flag and secure seven points.

Next up is the Gran Premio Gryfyn di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini, at the legendary Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli on September 3-4.

#11 - Sergio García: “A positive weekend overall. We missed a bit of feeling out there; on some sections I was very fast and on others not so much and that really held me back today. I could break away but then I had to hold my position so it wasn’t an easy race. I did what I could. 5th place and only two seconds from the win on what was a very fast pace. I’m focused and motivated for Misano where I am sure we’ll do better.”

#28 - Izan Guevara: “I had a good race. I worked my way to the front with the leaders but used quite a bit of tire and couldn’t go with Sasaki. He had too much for us today. I dropped back a bit and could then recover but I was having to work a lot physically and the rear end was pushing. I couldn’t latch on to the group in front, so, overall a strange weekend where we couldn’t quite find the perfect set-up. For Misano we’ll improve.”

#75 - Albert Arenas: “A difficult race but also a good one after two difficult GPs. It wasn’t my best performance but it was important to regain some confidence and feeling. We’ll keep pushing and looking to see where we can improve. I think we already made some progression through the sessions this weekend and we can already begin to think about how we’ll work for Misano.”

#96 - Jake Dixon: “It was such a crazy race, honestly! I was strong in the beginning, but then I was struggling to keep my tires in good shape from about lap eight. Then I tried some different maps. My heart and determination wasn't going to let me finish fourth in that race. I tried once, and it didn't work, but then squared it off into the last corner. It was amazing to finish in this position - this is probably one of my worst tracks because I’m not a hard braker - but here we are!”
