GASGAS SIGN OFF AWESOME DEBUT E-MTB SEASON WITH FIFTH IN FRANCE

FLYING FRENCHMAN ALEX FAYOLLE PUTS GASGAS MOTOREX RACING INSIDE THE TOP-FIVE AT UCI E-ENDURO WORLD CUP

In what’s been a super positive debut season for GASGAS in the UCI E-Enduro World Cup, the guys have again enjoyed yet more top results, this time at the final round of the series in Chatel, France. Matching his season-best ride of fifth, Alex Fayolle brought his ECC prototype home inside the top-five for GASGAS MOTOREX Racing.

  • Alex Fayolle signs off on 2023 season with fifth in France
  • Alex Marin puts the GASGAS ECC prototype fourth overall in the final standings
  • A great debut season saw GASGAS claim two podiums and four top five results
Riding high on the podium result claimed just two weeks ago, GASGAS arrived at the fifth and final round of the UCI E-Enduro World Cup in Chatel, France, determined to cap off an impressive debut season, looking for strong showings from both GASGAS SRAM Racing and GASGAS MOTOREX Racing.

On home soil, Alex Fayolle was out to give his best in Chatel. The Frenchman quickly overcame a puncture on stage two, going on to place fifth and fourth on stages three and four. Second on stage six put him in the mix and by rounding out the day with a 3-2-3 scorecard on stages eight, nine and 10, the GASGAS MOTOREX Racing rider earned a super fifth overall.

Sitting inside the top-three in the overall standings, GASGAS SRAM Racing’s Alex Marin was eager to get going. Starting out the day with third on stage one, the Spaniard was right on the pace. Unfortunately, he overcooked it slightly on stage two and paid a costly price. Unable to finish, he slipped to fourth overall in the final series standings. However, despite his frustration, he still has a lot to be pleased about, earning a solid pair of podium results at rounds three and four.

Coming on strong at the final round, GASGAS SRAM Racing’s Johannes Fischbach found himself inside the top-three after stage two. A crash on stage three put him on the back foot, but with time to recover, Johannes claimed a string of top-five stage times to eventually finish ninth.

For our Swede Simon Carlsson, Chatel didn’t quite go his way. A run of issues saw him battle his way through each stage with serious determination. Fighting on, he finally finished 26th.

So, after five rounds, GASGAS’ first season of UCI E-Enduro World Cup action is in the books. In what initially started out as a learning year, quickly developed into one heck of a ride with the ECC prototype. Our riders gave their all week in, week out and for that we couldn’t have asked for more. With four top-five results, plus two incredible second place finishes and fourth overall in standings from our super Spaniard Alex, 2023 has unquestionably been one to remember for all the right reasons!

But we’re not quite done yet. Very soon we’ll have our ground-breaking ECC prototype to fully unveil. Stay tuned for our first teaser coming on September 20.

Alex Fayolle (GASGAS MOTOREX Racing): “I actually got a slow puncture on stage two, and I lost so much time. But I kept pushing on and put in some strong stages. To get top-five at the end is great, but I feel like a chance of finishing on the podium, or even winning, was there today. Overall, it’s been a good season. The speed is there for sure, and I know I can be one of the top guys, which makes it exciting for next year.”

Alex Marin (GASGAS SRAM Racing): “What can I say, today didn’t quite end the season on the high I had hoped for. I had a big crash on stage two, rung my bell a bit and I had to retire for the day. I really wanted to get that overall podium result for myself and the team, but unfortunately it just slipped away. But it’s been a hell of a ride for my debut year in enduro. I’m massively proud of what we achieved and now believe I’ve got so much more to go after. Roll on 2024!”

Johannes Fischbach (GASGAS SRAM Racing): “I’m happy with how I rode out there. I managed to get five top-five stage times and was putting together a good fight for the podium. But a crash on stage three cost me a lot of time. It’s been a big learning year for me for my first time in enduro. I’m adapting quicker to new stages, and I understand better what I’ve got to do to push for a result like I could have got today.”

Simon Carlsson (GASGAS MOTOREX Racing): “Today was tricky and I seemed to have a few issues to deal with for most of the day, so I never really got a good rhythm going. Overall, it’s been an incredible season with the team. For our first series we worked hard and never gave up trying at each round.”
