- Double Enduro2 podium results for Andrea
- Verona claims runner-up EnduroGP finish on Sunday
- Italian cuts Enduro2 championship deficit to just two points
Fast off the line during Friday night’s Super Test in Skövde, Verona set a blistering pace to top the overall timesheets by 1.5 seconds. Steering his EC 450F with precision through the tight and twisting track, the Italian made a confident start to round three and laid the groundwork for the demanding weekend ahead.
Attacking the 10 tests on Saturday, Andrea clocked a runner-up result straight away, going on to claim six more top-four results throughout the day. Despite settling into a consistent rhythm on the challenging, rocky terrain, a mistake on the penultimate Extreme Test cost Verona precious time, which would ultimately deny him a podium finish. The Italian crossed the line just two seconds off third place, ending the day fourth overall and second in Enduro2.
Finding his rhythm on day two in Skövde, Verona came out swinging right from the off, setting the fastest time in class on seven of the nine special tests. Taking Sweden’s demanding conditions in his stride, he won the Enduro Test overall on two of the three laps and showed exceptional consistency throughout. The result was a commanding Enduro2 win, finishing over 30 seconds clear of his closest rival, while also securing second place overall in EnduroGP. Nice one, Andrea!
The EC 450F rider’s strong performances have cut the gap to the Enduro2 championship leader to just two points, with Verona targeting the top spot at the upcoming GP of Wales. In the overall EnduroGP standings, he holds second place and is poised to challenge leader Josep Garcia as the second half of the season unfolds.
The series now takes a two-month break before resuming on August 1-3 for round four’s GP of Wales.
Andrea Verona: “Day two here in Sweden has been really positive for myself and the team getting the Enduro2 win and second overall. I didn’t make any big mistakes and I felt a lot faster than I did yesterday. The Enduro Test was the key today and I finally figured out how to settle into it. The overall win would have been nice, but I’m happy with my results and I know what I need to work on in the weeks between now and the GP of Wales.”
