JORGE PRADO MAINTAINS CHAMPIONSHIP LEAD AS THE FINAL STRETCH BECKONS

JORGE PRADO AND SIMON LÄNGENFELDER EXPERIENCE PODIUM JOY IN NL.

Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing just extended their streak of double Grand Prix podiums to seven: Jorge Prado and Simon Längenfelder showed superb skill and determination at the sixteenth round of the 2023 FIM Motocross World Championship. The event was held in the sand of Arnhem, a facility that is based in The Netherlands.

  • Jorge Prado snatches fifteenth podium in sixteen attempts.
  • Simon Längenfelder shines brightly with a win in moto one.
  • Prado cements his spot at the top of the MXGP standings.
It was moto one of today's program where Jorge Prado did his best work; he led for sixteen of the eighteen laps en route to the victory. The second stint was more of a fight – he started on the cusp of the top five and was locked in a thrilling battle. Positions were swapped on more than one occasion, and he eventually hit the checkered flag in fourth. 1-4 scores put him in second overall at the Grand Prix and so his podium tally soared to fifteen. The advantage that '61' is sat on in the championship standings has changed ever so slightly, as it is now ninety-two points.

Jorge Prado: "This weekend was a tricky one. My rhythm was not quite right, but the first moto was good with a holeshot and win. I had a worse start in the second moto and was in a fight at the beginning before putting myself in a decent position. It was super tough, and I did not want to make a mistake. It was an okay weekend in the end."

Continuing his run of brilliant form, Simon Längenfelder was unstoppable in the first moto. '516' led every single lap of the first moto to take a clear win and remind his foes of his ability aboard the MC 250F. The second moto proved to be a little trickier – a mediocre start meant that he was trapped in the lower half of the top ten and had to be methodical about his passes. Sixth was where he was eventually placed. The ranking, when partnered with his moto one win, put him third in the overall classification. Längenfelder's just seven points from third in the championship standings now.

Simon Längenfelder: "I took the holeshot in the first race, which was really nice. I could choose my own lines. I could not quite find my rhythm in the second race – I made mistakes whenever I pushed. I still came away with a podium, so I am really happy about that."

There is a rather small break in the schedule now, which will give Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing ample time to prepare for the upcoming jaunt to Turkiye for round seventeen of the nineteen-round series.
