GASGAS E-BICYCLES GIVES EMTB RACING A GO!

WE HAVE E-MOUNTAIN BIKES, SO WHY NOT RACE THEM, RIGHT? JUMPING IN AT THE DEEP END, GASGAS E-BICYCLES RACED THE FINAL ROUND OF THE EMTB ENDURO WORLD SERIES IN FINALE LIGURE, ITALY.

The pinnacle of eMTB racing, the EWS-E is the epitome of progression when it comes to e-powered MTB sport. Armed with our new G Enduro 3.0, we decided to join the season finale in Italy. Borrowing Johannes Fischbach from our friends at R Raymon (thanks guys!), we finished 25th against the world’s best.

  • GASGAS E-Bicycles debuts in the EWS-E
  • Our G Enduro 3.0 didn’t miss a beat for 25th overall
  • A full EWS-E campaign is on the cards for 2023!
Less talk, more action! That’s always been the way we like to do things at GASGAS E-Bicycles. So, with that in mind, we decided to jump into some eMTB racing on our all-new G Enduro 3.0. Our top-spec enduro bike, putting the G Enduro 3.0 through its paces on some of the world’s toughest trails, and against the world’s best racers, was an opportunity not to be missed.

For those new to the sport, the EWS-E is a two-day enduro race with practice on day one and racing on day two. Finale Ligure featured a whopping 12 timed stages, three of which were uphill, for a massive 65 kilometers of pedaling and over 2,500 meters of elevation changes. All within a seven-hour ride time. Without question it was a big day out.

Going flat out against the clock, Johannes, who normally races downhill MTB, was also doing his first eMTB enduro, so the opening uphill stage was wild. Placing 26th was a strong start and with some more favorable downhill stages to come, Johannes battled on. Enjoying the ups with the downs, he brought the G Enduro 3.0 home in a very respectable 25th.

So, we learned that the EWS-E is about as tough as it comes, a true battle of attrition. But we like a challenge, and this form of racing is right up our street. Having whet our appetite, GASGAS E-Bicycles is looking forward to doing more EWS-E racing in 2023. Watch this space!

Johannes Fischbach: “I’m happy to have jumped into the EWS-E for the first time. It was super fun and a real adventure. The race went well, pretty smooth with no major crashes and mistakes. The G Enduro 3.0 was really nice to ride too. I’m happy with 25th for a relative eMTB newcomer. Many thanks to R Raymon for allowing me to give it a go too!”

Andreas Gklavas Head of GASGAS E-Bicycles Global Marketing: “Our goal for this week‘s Enduro World Series guest start was to explore the highest possible level of enduro bicycle racing for GASGAS and at the same time test our bikes in the hardest possible conditions in Finale Ligure. We are excited to see Johannes Fischbach placing our G ENDURO 3.0 straight in the top 25 without any technical issues during the 12 demanding stages on his first ever EWS-E race. Thank you again to our R Raymon colleagues for supporting us with Fischi‘s manpower and expertise for this mission. We’re excited what the future brings for GASGAS in terms of bicycle racing.”
