SUPER CHALLENGING MXGP OF GARDA FOR GASGAS FACTORY RACING

ILLNESS AND INJURY RULE OUT BOGERS AND JONASS WHILE LANGENFELDER DIGS DEEP FOR 11TH OVERALL IN MX2

That was a rough one! With all GASGAS Factory Racing riders posting solid results at the previous two stops of the Trentino triple-header, things were looking good for the team ahead of the third and final GP at the hardpack Italian circuit. Unfortunately, Brian Bogers was forced to withdraw before the event even started due to having a fever, then Pauls Jonass discovered he had three cracked ribs from his crash on Wednesday, ruling out our MXGP duo. Leaving MX2 young guns Simon Langenfelder and Isak Gifting to take care of business, Simon placed 11th overall with Isak bringing his MC 250F home in 16th.

  • Toughest GP of the season for GASGAS Factory Racing
  • Illness and injuries prevent Bogers and Jonass from competing
  • Simon Langenfelder signs off Trentino triple header with 11th overall in MX2
Simon Langenfelder: “Well, I guess I was consistent today! 11th in qualifying then 11th in both races. I had a great start in race one but I just didn’t quite have the speed to stay up front, which was a little frustrating. I was feeling much better in race two but then I tipped over while in eighth, which is easily done on this track. Not my best day, not the worst, but solid points and now it’s onto Mantova next weekend.”

Wednesday’s star performer, DIGA Procross GASGAS Factory Racing’s Simon Langenfelder was once again the team’s best racer with his 11th-place overall result in the MX2 class. Enjoying strong starts in both races and staying out of trouble for the most part, the young German’s consistent performances rounded out a pretty solid week for the MC 250F racer.

With Simon’s MX2 class teammate Isak Gifting clearly on the pace at the previous two visits to the Trentino circuit, the Swede was confident of completing the third and final GP at the hard and fast track with another solid performance. Unfortunately, it just wasn’t to be with multiple crashes in race one resulting in a DNF before he battled to 13th in moto two.

For Standing Construct GASGAS Factory Racing’s Pauls Jonass, the MXGP of Garda never really got going for the Latvian. After finding out yesterday that he had three broken ribs from his crash on Wednesday, he knew he was in for a tough one. But the pain, and inability to breathe properly, forced him out of action just 10 minutes into moto one.

Unfortunately for Brian Bogers, the Dutchman was forced to withdraw from racing before it began following orders from doctors after a trip to hospital confirmed he had a high fever having felt under the weather all week.

Isak Gifting: “The triple header here in Trentino is done but it’s not been the best end to the week here. I crashed twice in race one and then in race two I just didn’t ride good. It’s super-frustrating after such a great GP for me one week ago. One to forget but now the focus is on the last two rounds.”

Pauls Jonass: “After my crashes on Wednesday I was still in quite a lot of pain so yesterday I went to get checked out and I have three broken ribs! I really tried to tough it out today and I qualified well this morning, but after 10 minutes in race one I could hardly breathe, the pain was just too much. It’s disappointing for sure and I’ll be doing everything I can to be ready for the final two rounds in Mantova.”

Standing Construct GASGAS Factory Racing and DIGA Procross GASGAS Factory Racing return to FIM Motocross World Championship action in one week’s time for the MXGP of Lombardia.
