Never one to shy away from a challenge, GASGAS Factory Racing’s Andrea Verona will race this year’s Red Bull Erzbergrodeo onboard his GASGAS EC 350F. The young Italian has his sights set on a strong result in the Iron Road Prologue, before taking on the big one, the super-extreme Red Bull Erzbergrodeo on Sunday.

  • Andrea Verona to take on Red Bull Erzbergrodeo
  • EnduroGP champ to race his GASGAS EC 350F
  • Andrea to join Taddy Blazusiak and Michael Walkner at the Iron Giant
With a four-week gap between rounds four and five of the FIM EnduroGP World Championship, Verona was looking for something to keep himself busy! So, what better than taking on one of the world’s toughest extreme enduros?

Andrea visited the iconic Austrian event last year as a spectator and obviously caught the Erzberg bug. This year he plans to attack the prologue, before giving his best in the insanely tough Red Bull Erzbergrodeo extreme race. With no time to set up and train on a GASGAS EC 300 – a bike best suited to the massively rocky terrain – Verona will be riding his EnduroGP championship EC 350F.

Multiple winner of the Red Bull Erzbergrodeo, Taddy Blazusiak will be racing the event aboard his trusty EC 300. The GASGAS Brand Ambassador should be able to give Verona plenty of tips on how to successfully navigate through the iconic key sections seen at the race, such as Three Kings, Machine, and the hellish Carl’s Dinner.

Also racing an EC 300 at Erzberg, FIM Hard Enduro World Championship competitor and GASGAS supported rider Michael Walkner will also be looking for a strong finish on Sunday. Following on from his hard-fought top-five result at round one of the series – the Xross Hard Enduro Rally – ‘Miki’ will be aiming to carry that pace and momentum into his home race in Austria this weekend.

Good luck to all GASGAS riders taking on the Iron Giant this week – keep an eye on our social channels for action from the infamous event.

Andrea Verona: “I’m not sure how all this is going to work, but I’m going to give my absolute best as always! I visited Erzberg last year and loved the event, so with a free weekend, I thought why not. Obviously, the main race is a lot different to what we ride in EnduroGP, but I’m definitely pumped to ride the prologue – it’s a really cool race and should suit the 350 quite well. Going into Sunday’s race, I’m under no illusion how hard it’s going to be. My plan is to try my best and see where I end up. Of course, to finish a race like Erzberg would be amazing, but I’m really just going there for the experience and to have fun racing my bike. It’s what it’s all about.”
