Rain-hit run for Red Bull GASGAS Tech3 at Mugello test 2024 Motorsport news Rain fell on Sunday evening at Mugello, on the outskirts of the small town of Borgo San Lorenzo, but the warm air meant the track started to dry and gave a few precious minutes for riders to make speed before the clouds unloaded again. Pedro Acosta (3rd and 5th across the Sprint and GP races at the weekend) and Augusto Fernandez managed just over 30 laps between them through the mixed and soaking track states.   Acosta’s best effort meant he sat in P2 for most of the day and didn’t test much during the worst of the weather. Fernandez was in a similar predicament and rode mostly on damp asphalt as both Spaniards experimented with configurations of the bike for the wet.   The kinks and curves of the TT Circuit Assen in the Drenthe region of the Netherlands will be the next challenge for Pedro and Augusto on June 28-30.   Pedro Acosta, 2nd position: “We couldn’t follow the plan for the new stuff but to test in the rain was quite good for us and we looked at a different setting. There is not much else to say about today! Assen next and it’s a technical track but should be good for our bike. We’re looking forward to it.”   Augusto Fernandez, 13th position: “Obviously the things we were planning for the dry we couldn’t use but we also had a plan for the wet because I wanted to improve my feeling there also. We tried some things and they were positive: I was able to lap fast again in the wet. My package enough is good enough to do better than the results I have but we still need that base and today it was a shame we couldn’t work much on that.”   Nicolas Goyon, Red Bull GASGAS Tech3 Team Manager:“We wanted to test some new items today and the list was long, with aero and other things but the weather didn’t want to play with us. We took whatever we could from the wet laps and that included some better feeling for Augusto. Whatever improvement in confidence he can find then we’ll use it.”   Sebastian Risse, GASGAS Technical Manager: “As with all our riders across the board we had a firm plan for today and for test items that would have benefit for the short term and also the long term. The rain meant we had to be far more focused about what we could do, otherwise we cannot draw sufficient conclusions from the laps and the data. Even though it was difficult we found some positives, especially with electronic settings. We have a few weeks now to prepare for Assen and Sachsenring.”   Grab Red Bull GASGAS Tech3 test and race photographs from Mugello HERE   Mugello official test final times   1.
